North Branch/Trump National 15-Mile Loop

Join us on Saturday, July 26 at 9:00 am for this paved and unpaved road ride that explores the foothills and fairways of north Somerset County. This rolling-hill ride will take us past some of Somerset County's most beautiful private properties, stables, and through the middle of the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster. We'll begin along the North Branch of the Raritan River, just off Route 22 in North Branch, heading up and over a few rolling hills that will take us into Somerset County's horse country. The roads turn to gravel while the homes turn to grand estates as we follow the Lamington River into Bedminster.

We'll approach the Trump Golf Course from the west, on a gravel road that will take us past the historic Lamington Black Cemetery. This site has 97 identified 18th and 19th century graves (36 with names) of house servants from the Bedminster area including five Civil War veterans.

As we continue toward the golf course, we'll pass the driveway of the property's original main house, formerly the home of automotive entrepreneur John Delorean. We'll continue to follow the gravel road right through the middle of the golf course.

The last third of the ride will take us back to North Branch, passing the Somerset County Airport, on paved roads.

This is a rolling hill ride for intermediate riders. Because half of the ride will be on gravel roads, mountain or hybrid bikes are recommended. This is a rough ride for road bikes.

Click here to view the route map.

The ride begins and ends at the Branchburg Conservation parking area (1012 Easton Turnpike, Branchburg, NJ 08876). We'll start at 9:00 am and should be done by 11:00 am. There are a number of local spots for those who may be interested in an after-ride get-together.

Join us for this interesting, rural adventure.

Great photos, Avinash. I know it's out of character, but I only contributed two photos this time.
