Winter Indoor Cycling Classes at HPC

For most of us, the winter temps here in the Washington metro area are just too cold for cycling. So let’s take it indoors with professionally coached and computerized indoor training classes at HPC!

What & Who?

Hefler Performance Coaching, well known for coaching expertise that has created success for endurance athletes of all ages and abilities, has agreed to conduct a special winter series of their very popular indoor cycling classes using the CompuTrainer MultiRider just for members of Bike Me DC!

The CompuTrainer MultiRider system provides structured and challenging workouts and is made even more fun by riding with a group of your friends while receiving valuable tips from the experienced HPC coaches!

Why?

Whether you are a competitive racer or a weekend warrior, HPC’s CompuTrainer classes will help you attain and surpass your fitness goals. The system gives you instantaneous updates on power output (watts), speed, gradient, distance, and other critical metrics that allow for scientific accuracy in making sure you get the best workout possible! Not only that, but the social atmosphere of the classes can make even the most trainer-weary riders look forward to indoor workouts.

How?

All you have to do is sign up and bring your bike and cycling gear, water , and definitely a towel! Then, just plug your bike in and prepare for a great workout and learning experience as one of HPC’s experienced coaches guide you through the session.

Sessions

Eight consecutive weekly sessions have been scheduled beginning Sunday, January 5, 2014 and ending Sunday, February 23, 2014. (HPC requires a minimum of 12 signups to conduct a session).  Each session will last approximately 2 hours and includes setup, workout, cool down and stretching.

Fees

Cost for each session is $26.00. This includes the $25.00 session fee plus a $1.00 online processing fee charged by PayPal. Payment must be made at the time you make your RSVP.

Cancelations & Refunds

Refunds are available if your RSVP is changed before noon on Friday of that week’s session or if a session is canceled because the minimum enrollment has not been met.

What to Bring?

- Your bike
- Cycling clothing & shoes
- Water bottle
- Towel

Note: Depending on your bike, a different skewer might be required for your rear wheel. Skewers are available at HPC at a cost of $15.00.

Questions?

As always, feel free to contact me via MeetUp email should you questions. I also encourage you to check out HPC web site for more information about them and the CompuTrainer system.  http://www.heflerperformancecoaching.com/

The class was great. I hope to learn more about riding techniques and overall endurance training for centuries.

Are you considering adding a waitlist, in case someone has to cancel at the last minute?

    January 3, 2014

    • John

Unfortunately, the Meetup system does not allow for a wait list for events that require payment. However, it does allow for a list of those who 'want a spot'. I am not sure what the difference is but will try to find out.

Thanks John. I'm guessing that the waitlist is for is for events that don't require payment as you are automatically moved up as people cancel. If you want a spot aka it requires payment it may be that you get notification that there's a spot available. I'll have to reserve early for next week.

I could do some of the Sundays (Jan 12, 26 and Feb 2, 9, & 23), although I'm not sure I would do all of them given the cost and distance (I live in Alexandria). So, do you have a schedule of topics to be covered at each class? It's $26 per person per session, correct? Thanks for putting together this opportunity!

    January 1, 2014

    • John

Kathy - We are still working on the schedule for the topics but expect it will be close to that which was outlined in the email I sent out on the 31st. Feedback from those attending the first session will likely influence the topic schedule.

The cost is $26.00 per person per session.

Look forward to you joining us.

This sounds very good. I have not been able to attend any meet ups since I joined due to work travel. But now that things have significantly settled down I would love to join in on this.
