Cycle Richmond to Reigate

Please join us on what promises to be a lovely, picturesque and scenic cycle from Richmond to Reigate through many beautiful parts of Surrey.

Here is the plan for the day;

1) Meet outside Richmond Tube Station

2) Cycle to Reigate

3) Lunch in a nice country Pub near Reigate

4) Cycle back to Richmond

The total mileage including the lunch stop will be approx 55 miles.

Road bikes, hybrids with slim tyres or Cyclocross bikes are strongly recommended for this ride.

Mountain bikes will not be suitable.

Our average cycling speed will be approx 12mph, which translates as approx 15-18mph on flat roads and approx 7-9 mph up hills.

No one will be left behind, however if you are struggling to keep up then we will escort you to the nearest station.

Helmets and lights will be compulsory.

It is strongly recommended that you carry a spare inner tube in case of a puncture, every week someone has a puncture! Also a good lock for when we have lunch.

In terms of difficulty from (1-5(hardest)), we would categorise this ride as difficulty level 3.5. This will be quite a hilly ride, with 4 cat 5 climbs during the day and a total of 1700ft of total climbing, not in one go!

For those cyclists who do not wish to do the whole route there will be numerous train station along the route, so if you wish to join us for part of the ride and then take the train  back home, you are welcome to.

If you are not sure that you will be able to cope with the speed and the distance please email Suki for some advice.

This meetup will be weather dependent so 12 hours before the event begins if heavy rain is forecast then the event will be cancelled, please check the website the evening before the event begins and also a few hours before the event begins.

Please do not put your name down unless you are serious about attending. If you repeatedly put your name down for rides and then pull out or don't show, you will automatically be put on the waiting list for future rides.

Thank you Suki, great ride even if it nearly killed me ;-) Has definitely inspired me to get a road bike. Thanks to a lovely group for your support and encouragement xxxx

Juliet, considering your classic style and taste :) I think you would look great on a VIA NIRONE 7 - entry level of Bianchi range - still super light considering it's alloy, not carbon. Good shock absorbing kevlar carbon forks It rides by itself :) http://www.evanscycle...

Great day out again with an excellent group. Hillier than I expected (despite the forewarning) but thoroughly enjoyable and well done Juliet on the heavy bike. Eilish, where did you leave us (or was that my selective hearing again?).
    Thanks for organising Suki.

Fantastic country lanes route from Suki.. very well thought and prepared (it shows!). I really enjoyed seeing Patrick, Eilish and Danial attacking the hills with passion.. and the group speed being faster than last weekend. Overall, most enjoyable day out with a lovely group and one absolutely fantastic challenging hill leaving Reigate that deserves a second visit! Addictive Surrey hills.. THANKS SUKI and I look forward to Leith Hill in May ;-))

That was not passion Penny that was fear of falling off if I stopped!
