Bartlett - Landfill Ride/ABC Rec

The ride will begin 7pm at Bartlett High School (in the parking lot near the pool), please show up a few minutes early.

We will be riding 16 miles round trip, there is always an option to ride further. Depending on the group and weather we could pedal to the Eagle River Walmart and back again.

Remember to bring your helmet as they are required for all ABC rides. Also, a parent or guardian must be in attendance for any riders under the age of 18.

A good 20 mile ride that was pretty chilly at the end as the sun settled and a few slick spots too. Two spills for me with a couple of new bruises and scraped knee. I'm still in fat biking mode I think. Jon, hope you are doing well after your 'crash'. Vladimir, kudos to you for bringing your sun out and getting an extra work out!

Thanks to you all for putting up with us. We rode until he couldn't anymore, lol. Someday he'll take my advice of dressing in layers seriously

The lil' guy didn't look too happy when you arrived back at the parking lot. Now we know why....

Quite a mix of bikes....fat bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, road bikes, tandem and even a couple of dogs.

Still a bit too cold for my tastes. The temps promise to be better for the Sunday ride in Palmer.

I've been offered overtime at the office for today. That means $$$. So I'm taking as much as I can get. I promise I will show up someday though, really, I love riding my bike.

I'm not up on the local names for things yet. The "bike trail" is the paved path along the highway, right? I've decided to come. No one has mentioned speed or drop policy. Hopefully there'll be a couple people who'll want to maintain a sedate pace. I'm betting that I won't be capable of more than 15 mph sustained. Speak now, please, if you know that we'll be pounding at 20 mph the whole way! Thanks.

yes, it will be the paved bike trail. Not everyone rides the same speed but it is possible to turn around and go back without getting lost. Jon is pretty good at making sure no one gets left behind. ;)

This will also be a great way for you to learn the trails and where to ride. And maybe even meet some new riding buddies! :)

Hi What's your average speed? What's your drop policy? I'm pretty rusty and slower on mountain bike than road. I assume mtn bike required? No studs, so it'd have to be pretty dry by then too.

Jon can correct me if I'm wrong, this is his ride.

I have heard from multiple sources that the trail is in good shape. We will ride to the Landfill on the bike trail. If there is consensus we can continue on the road to the Eagle River Walmart. We could also split at the landfill if some wanted to go back.

Finally. I need to use my studded tires a few more times before this breakup stays permanent.
