Two days exploring the fine cycleways around the World Heritage City of Bath. Enjoy this Roman spa town with fine Georgian architecture. Flat canal towpaths, disused railway lines, and countryside roads will take you through cultural sites and historic market towns. A classy location to spend a weekend in comfort.
Distances: 30 miles Saturday & 20 miles Sunday
Terrain: Mainly flat
Path/Road: Canal tow path, traffic free cycle paths and quiet roads
Physical difficulty: Easy to Moderate Saturday, Easy Sunday. Cycling at a slow pace for 4 hours Saturday & 2.5 hours Sunday.
Duration: Friday night to Sunday evening.
3* hotel outside of Bath in a countryside location.
Cost: £170pp, based on 2 people sharing a twin room (£40 single supplement).
Check in to the hotel and head to a nearby pub for meet, greet and a socialise.
Take to the bikes and cycle along the canal, passing a series of locks and the historic Dundas Aquaduct. Continue to Bath for a short exploration of the City. Lunch in one of the many eateries there.
Head out into the countryside and cycle back to the hotel through pretty villages.
Dinner and drinks in the hotel restaurant.
Return to the canal, Visit the market town of Bradford-on-Avon and its many tourist sites. Sample their gastronomic offerings for lunch.
Return to the hotel along quiet countryside roads.
