BORDEAUX IN DEEP ELLUM RIDE-
This miles of smiles starts at 4:00 PM Saturday March 22 The group will depart promptly at 4:30PM and return to our origin point at 6:00pm. This ride will include some interesting Dallas history, a look at the fantastic creations of the sculptor Raoul Josset, the famous mural work of Carlo Campaglia. Our ride will depart from the Calais Winery Commerce St. location in Deep Ellum and proceed along Exposition Street to the entrance of Dallas Fairpark. At Fairpark we will take a brief tour of one of the best examples of original Art-Deco design and amazing sculpture anywhere. The group will exit Fairpark at the Washington/Parry street gate. Then a short ride to connect to the new Sante Fe Trail. Then our riders will proceed North East, up the Sante Fe Trail to White Rock lake. At White rock we will take a short break before heading back down the trail and across the edge of Fairpark back to Exposition Ave and ultimately on to Commerce and ending at our starting point.
The ride is designed to minimize our exposure to city traffic and maintain relative safety.
We will be hosted at the Calais winery by Benjamin Calais, award winning wine maker and master of French Style winemaking. The winery will have cold whites and rose' wines, as well as some huge reds.
Calais does not serve food but Benjamin welcomes you to bring small personalized servings of cheese, crackers, (and or) bread.
Parking (as usual) will be problematic. Benjamin recommends street parking, but REMEMBER TO BRING QUARTERS FOR THE METER! You will probably want to have 6 QUARTERS to allow plenty of time to ride and visit the winery. DO NOT PARK WHERE TOWING IS ENFORCED!!
Remember to bring your own personal water supply as this ride is a little longer than most we do. You might also consider a quick change of clothes as this is a longer ride than we usually do.
See Ya There!
