TOUR DE QUEENS (19 miles)

How the Tour de Queens WorksTimeline:

7 am: Rider check-in and registration opens

8:30 am: Check-in and registration closes

9 am: Tour departs

12:30 pm: The Tour returns to Astoria Park, in the same location as the start.

Check-in/start time is subject to change.

We ride rain or shine.

The tour is 19 miles of Queens's finest biking. The Tour de Queens will have an NYPD police escort and safety cell. The ride will have a family-friendly pace (in other words, slow). This is not a race.

The NYPD escorts the ride as a rolling parade and there will be occasional stops while the police and marshals secure intersections and gather riders. The Tour will be supported by volunteer safety marshals. They are there to assist riders in need and to help safely move the tour through intersections. Light snacks and water will be available the rest stop, located approximately half-way through the tour. Please bring your own water bottle. If you have any peanut allergies or will want a more substantive lunch, we recommend you bring your own food. There is no SAG vehicle for the tour. If you have serious mechanical troubles or become exhausted on the tour, marshals will help you reach the nearest subway station or direct you to a bike shop. We will be riding down two way streets. Please stay on your side of the road while riding in the Tour. Registration is required.

In accordance with New York State law, helmets are required for riders age 13 and under.

The 2013 Tour de Queens will begin in a totally new location: Astoria Park! The tour, as usual, will be approximately 20 miles, and will visit the neighborhoods of Astoria, Long Island City, Ridgewood, Maspeth, Rego Park, Middle Village, Forest Hills, Corona and East Elmhurst. Our rest stop will be held in one of Queens' best kept secrets, Juniper Park!

The 2013 Tour de Queens begins and ends at Astoria Park in western Queens. The entrance to the check-in area will be the parking lot near the pool, accessible at the corner of 19th Street and Hoyt Avenue.

Public Transportation: N or Q train to Astoria Blvd. We encourage you to ride your bike or take public transportation to the tour. If you must drive, be aware that there is limited street parking in the area. -

We are meeting at 8:00 am sharp at Hoyt Ave and Crescent street - trying to get together and avoid the finding each other in the crowd, we will be riding at the end of the pack. If you need me call/txt at[masked] tomorrow. Registration closes at 830 so we are not going to wait around more than 10 minutes.

No. You had to officially register at the link above. I am not sure if the city organizers will let you ride unless you have a registered number for your bike.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
