Ride the covered bridges of Maryland

Hi all, I am riding with Cycling is fun and Bike me Dc the weekend of August 17th and 18.
I asked permission From the event organizer of Cycling Is Fun if I could share this with the Biking In Baltimore he of course being the outdoor cyclist he said sure. So here it is. .
Last year a group went up to cycle an "Easy Covered Bridges" ride in Frederick, MD the day before the Lancaster ride. They happened to be doing this the same day and along a lot of the same routes as the official Tour de Frederick. We are going to do the same UNOFFICIAL ride and maybe we'll run into Greg LeMond like they did last year!

This is one of the most beautiful rides with gently rolling hills and no significant climbs. Plan to leave Richmond around 8:00 (caravanning plans will come closer to the date) and meet in the elementary school parking lot. Wheels on the road by 11:30. There is a place to eat lunch around mile 17 but be sure to bring plenty of snacks / powerbars / water for the ride in case it is closed. This ride is 33 miles.
Meetup Times:

Sat 11:30am Lewistown ES parking lot off of Hessong Bridge Road, Thurmont MD. Extrapolating from an online cue sheet I believe it is near the intersection of Hessong Bridge Rd and Lewistown Rd
Let me know if you are interested and I will Keep Dennis in the loop on how many people we have coming.

Not sure if anyone is interested but, if we get finished the ride early enough I am thinking about riding over to Fredrick and watch the High Wheel Race The race starts at 4 pm on Saturday.
Will see if anyone wants to go after the ride tomorrow.

Looking forward to meeting everyone Saturday. We will meet at 11 am and be riding by 11:30 am. Looks like there will be about 50 people which means this will be a lot of fun and a great way to meet other cyclist. I will be driving a blue Ford van with a set of wood roof racks that look more like a deck. This is what has been posted about this ride.

Rated by Bicycling Magazine as one of the 50 best rides in America, this 33 mile version of the iconic covered bridges ride takes you through the scenic, gently rolling countryside and farmland of Frederick County, Maryland. We'll cycle through the picturesque campus of Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD. And, of course, we'll bicycle through three historic covered bridges. See Ya all Saturday

    Hi all,
    the ride is almost full.
I talked to Dennis and we are going to limit the Biking Baltimore to 10 people. There are a few meet ups going on this ride and They have limited the number of riders to 50 between all the meet ups and that number is almost there.
    Thanks

I did this ride last year with the Fredrick meet up and it is a really nice ride. You may want to bring a camera there is some nice picture ops
