Bio: Jon Rask is a Scientist in the Space Biosciences division at NASA Ames Research Center. His work focuses on human health effects of spaceflight, Lunar and Mars analog research, and the exploration of desert and polar environments.
Title: Biotic Machines and their application in space exploration
This talk will cover use of synthetic biology to develop biotic machines that are capable of providing life support to human space exploration missions.
Bio: Mr. Flynn is a principal investigator for the Bioengineering Branch at NASA Ames Research Center. He has over 21 years experience in the development of advanced life support system, astrobiology, and fundamental space biology. He has over 100 relevant peer reviewed publications in these fields. Mr. Flynn has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from San Francisco State University.
Title: Life in the ZooLAB at NASA-Ames
Bio: Sigrid Reinsch is a cell and developmental biologist working at NASA-Ames since 1998. She received her B.A. in Biology from UCSC, a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from UCSF and did post-doctoral research at the European Molecular Biology Lab in Heidelberg Germany.
