Katie Hill from Luminex is the featured guest at the Biotech in WI Meetup on Monday, November 11.
The main topics we're looking to engage on are:
1. Why be social in science? (with data to share about how unsocial we are in science)
2. Social platforms and the pros and cons of each one for sharing our stuff
3. The elephant in the room: what to share and what not to share
4. Examples of how using SoMe in science helps us all

Monday, November 11, 5:45 PM
MG&E Innovation Center (505 South Rosa Road), Room 50
You can RSVP online.

Please share this event with your network!

For other local/regional biotech events of interest, here is a public Google calendar.

I thought this was a very interesting topic. Because many of you in the audience are in the private sector (non-academic), I am curious how you view 'social interactions' with academicians either online or in person. We are in the process of addressing this topic and the importance for researchers to have an online presence/brand in an effort to promote their science, research ideas, and develop collaborations around the world. Presently, as Katie mentioned, many researchers indicate they 'do not have time' for these things. However, as a person who was once looking to join labs and discover cool science - having an active blog, online presence, fun and interactive (and updated) website, and videos are extremely important during the decision process.
