The DC/MD/VA Biotechnology Meetup Group and The Georgetown University Graduate Biotechnology Program is pleased to announce a night of networking with local Biotechnology Professionals, Graduate Students and Alumni.  This free event will take place at Georgetown University and is open for all to attend.  Short talks on how to apply a master’s level education to a biotechnology field will be held between 30 minute networking sessions.  To volunteer to give one of these talks please post a comment on this event board.  Light refreshments will also be served.

Georgetown Shuttle Transportation:

There is a FREE Georgetown shuttle bus that picks up at Dupont Metro Station (red line), or at Rosslyn Metro Station (blue/orange line). The shuttle buses run every 5 minutes.


• From Dupont Circle on the Red Line: The University offers shuttle bus service from the Red Line Metro Stop at Dupont circle (Massachusetts Ave. at 21st Streets). The shuttle from Dupont Circle stops at the Kober-Cogan building. After getting off the shuttle, walk back to Reservoir Road. Proceed West on Reservoir Road towards Entrance 3. Upon seeing a red-brick building, walk up the steps directly to the door.

•  From Rosslyn on the Orange Line: The shuttle bus service from Rosslyn stops at 19th & N. Moore Streets, East of the Metro Station. This shuttle stops at the main campus parking entrance in the Southwest Quad. Walk up to the top of the hill. At the top of the hill is Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, enter the main doors. Turn left and go up the stairs. Walk straight, exiting out the doors. Continue walking left, toward the Medical-Dental Building. We are the red brick building on the right.


Taxi Cab:

•  Passengers can be dropped off in the circle at Entrance 3, off Reservoir Road. Go up the stairs on the left. The Med-Dent building is the red brick building at the top of the hill.

By City Bus: 
The D6 Metrobus drops off passengers along Reservoir Road. Proceed on Reservoir Road to Entrance 3 and follow the directions given for arrival by cab.

Parking:
Street Parking is available on Reservoir Road and adjacent city streets. These spots have strictly enforced two-hour limits. Metered parking is also available in two-hour periods.


Medical Center Parking is available at Entrance 1 on Reservoir Road. If you are using a navigation system, input 3800 Reservoir Road NW, Washington, DC 20057. Proceed straight down the service road into the Leavey Center Parking Garage. Parking rates are: $10/1 hr. $15/2 hr $20/3 hr. and $25/4 hr and above. From the garage, walk toward the Lombardi Cancer Center and enter the main doors. Turn left and go up the stairs. Walk straight, exiting out the doors. Continue walking left, toward the Medical-Dental Building. We are the red brick building on the right.


University Parking is also available in the Southwest Quadrangle garage, which is entered via Canal Road. Daily parking after 3PM: $12.00. After exiting the garage building, turn left and go to the top of the steep hill. At Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, enter the main doors. Turn left and go up the stairs. Walk straight, exiting out the doors. Continue walking left, toward the Medical-Dental Building. We are the red brick building on the right.

Second, recognize that self-directed life-long learning is essential in a dynamic industry like biotechnology.

    Basheer Zada, alumni of Georgetown University, works in Business Development at Brace Pharmaceuticals and will be giving a brief talk about his experiences.

    Laura Clatterbuck, Recruiter at Lab Support specializes in placing professionals in the Biological Sciences industry. She will be giving a talk about tips of working with a recruiter to find your perfect job.

    Emma Beatty Howells, Ph.D. is a free-lance Medical Writer. She will be giving a brief talk about the pros and cons of working free-lance.
