Happy New Year everybody.
I have scheduled our first meeting for 2013 for January 27th. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new members who would like to spend a couple of hours speaking in Spanish. We do not charge meeting fees but do request that those who use the service make a small donation to our costs in the jar provided.
If your Spanish is rusty or even if you are a relative beginner do not be put off, there is nothing like a bit of immersion to improve your competence. Although most conversations are conducted in fairly fluent Spanish you do not have to be fluent to attend, enjoy or beenfit from our group. Listening to the target language is part of the learning process and nobody in the group minds if you just want to listen.
It is my experience that Spanish speakers are the most generous with their language and are kind and helpful to all learners even those on the nursery slopes. The people in our group are very friendly and only bite if you ask! So if you are nervous - don't be, just take a deep breath, clench your buttocks and join in as best you can. You will soon feel very much at home.
The format is informal. Its just like going to the local for a drink and a chat to whomever may be there except we speak in Spanish (mostly!) rather than English.
As this falls during pantomime season I am still awaiting confirmation of the times, but it will be late afternoon as usual (4pm or 5pm) As always members are free to arrive and leave when they wish. But please do double check the times closer to the event.
Good to go to the meet up last night. I am looking forward to the next one already. Thanks

Thanks for a good evening, Hilarie. I struggled a little bit as a result of not having enough Spanish but I met some lovely people who were kind enough to help me out. I'll be back! ;-)
