Let's meet in the Bottletree parking lot again, because it'll be easier to find everyone that way. I have a silver Honda Element. At 12:10 p.m. we'll head inside the restaurant, so if you're more than 10 minutes late, just look for the (hopefully) big group inside. The Bottletree is expecting us, so just ask if you can't find the group.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or concerns. Hope to see you all there!

Thanks!

Happy New Year's! The results of the poll were unanimous again. We'll be meeting at the Bottletree Cafe. Saturday, January 3rd at 12:00 noon. Hopefully this time they'll have electricity and we won't have to make a last minute venue change! Hope to see you there!

Best wishes,

Diana

18 Dec. 2008

I just put a new poll in the Polls section of our website regarding where to meet for our next Meetup, Saturday, January 3rd. Our restaurant choices for January: Bottletree Cafe (since several people were disappointed that we weren't able to eat there for the last Meetup), Golden Temple, Rojo, P.F. Chang's, Fire + Ice (a new restaurant in 5 Points South, sort of an improv grill style place), and Mellow Mushroom. Addresses and websites are listed in the poll (except for Golden Temple, whose menu is still in the File section of the website).

Thanks and happy holidays to everyone!

Best wishes,

Diana

Re: December's Meetup

My sincere apologies to those of you who tried to come to our first Meetup at the Bottletree Cafe and weren't able to find us. When we arrived at the Bottletree Saturday morning, we noticed that there was a sign up on the door, stating that the electricity had gone out, and they wouldn't be open for business until 12:30 p.m. So as a group, we decided to move the Meetup to the Mellow Mushroom in Five Points South. We waited around for several minutes for latecomers, and left a note on the door at the Bottletree explaining the situation. Hopefully nobody was left at the Bottletree all alone and wondering what happened!

At any rate, we had a fun time. We had a nice turn out, despite the change of venue-- lots of very friendly people! Nikki made us all some *fantastic* vegan cookies! (Really, really good cookies!!! biggrin) Rishi took some photos of the group. Hopefully he'll post those in our photo album when he gets a chance.

The next Meetup will be on Saturday, January 3rd. Time & location TBA. I'm totally open to suggestions. Several people were disappointed about not being able to go to the Bottletree, so perhaps we'll try that again. We may try, depending on the turnout and interest, to have two Meetups in January.

Best wishes,

Diana

Good to know. Thanks! My husband is dubious about joining us and very into meat. I have eaten veggie my entire life. I've been so wanting to try bottletree! I hope to see you on Saturday.

Having people who are vegetarians/vegans at the meetup should be fine. However it would be nice if they order a vegetarian dish at the meetup.

Hi Lisa~ At the last Meetup a couple of non-vegetarians came with veg*n friends or significant others, and they chose, out of respect for the group, to eat vegetarian.

I have a question. What if you bring someone with you who isn't a veggie? Will group members be offended if someone eats meat? I'm a veggie but not vegan will anyone have a problem with that? Thanks, Lisa

We had a great time! It's so wonderful to hang with people hold some of the same values and outlooks as we do!
    •  I had a great time meeting all the people and it was really great that we discussed all those things. Thats what I like more for any meetup.
    •  It was nice to be around like-minded people, but as a strict vegan who scrutinizes every ingredient and who owns two ingredient dictionaries, I was hoping that more people at the meetup would be able to relate to the problems strict vegans face at restaurants. Requesting "no cheese" is only the beginning, after all! Having said that, I still enjoyed being around such open-minded people and apologize for my lack of sleep the night before and shyness. I hope that the group keeps growing.
    •  This was my first Vegan Meet. I had a fantastic time and met so many wonderful people! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I even brought a friend of mine who isn't a vegetarian, and they welcomed him with open arms. We sat around and had a lot of good conversation, hearing from people, about their lifestyles and beliefs. I had a great time - thanks so much for letting me be a part of this! &=)
