Canal Walk With History

From Spaghetti Junction to town via Nechells and Alum Rock. History and anecdotes along the way. Hear about Murder, Blackmail, the Battle of Saltley Gate. See wildlife and industrial architecture. Hear about Boy Racers, Custard, Tea and the Birmingham Proof House.

Meet on the Car Park of the Armada Pub by Spaghetti Junction. Buses from town are the 65, 67 or any that go up Lichfield Rd. Short walk from Gravelly Hill train station.

Trainers should be fine although there might be some puddles or a bit of muddiness. About 4-5 miles but it will be slow and gentle.

We'll end up at the Rose Villa Tavern in time for Sunday Lunch!

Hi Amilbawa. Hop on a 50 shortly after 9:00am from Moseley Village. Get off at Moor St Station and walk the short distance to Priory Queensway (map http://www.streetmap....). There catch the 9:50 or 10:10 65 bus. Get off at the first stop in Slade Rd which is the first stop after Spaghetti Junction (mass of concrete pillars). The Armada is just there.

I want to join the walk but don't know if I can catch up the group for I'm working Saturday night but hopefully I can easily get to the place for I don't know the area.

Hi Jovi, give us a ring during the walk if you like and we'll tell you where we are. It'll add a bit of excitement!
