Bitcoin Practical Workshop

Hi

As a follow on from the introduction on the 9th of Jan a workshop demo session will take place on the 29th to give practical Bitcoin knowledge. The class will be based around demos of some common Bitcoin wallet, software and exchange services

The material will cover

-How to generate a secure password? Whats entropy and why is it important? Whats a password manager?

-How to sign up to an exchange?

-What is an exchange? Why are the prices different on different exchanges? Which are the most common/liquid exchanges and factors to be aware of?

-Which wallets are available/can I use to store coins?

-How do I make paper backups/offline wallets?

-Whats a BIP?

-What's cryptography and what's it got to do with Bitcoin?

-Practical financial considerations from a Bitcoin perspective such as trade accounting

I will lead this class with the help of other community members

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you there

Ronan Lynch

Great workshop, interesting examples and advice given by both the speaker, and people in the audience. May be worth spending a bit more time in the future showcasing dummy transactions as it can be hard to follow the mouse sometimes on a big screen.

Hi Folks, Unfortunately couldn't hang around this evening after the talk but had to shoot off. I thought the talk was quite interesting and it was great turn out. Does anyone remember the name of the guy from the 1700's that the gentleman from Cork mentioned?

Great to see such a high sign up level, I'm going to be demoing and explaining services. The level of the meetup well assume minimal practical knowledge of Bitcoin. Looking forward to seeing you all there. If you cannot make it please update your status. Fees go to paying for the space and any excess rolls into paying to book the space on a more permanent basis. Cheers, Ronan
