I'm not sure when I first heard about bitcoin but I've been aware of it for some time; I've always been interested, but have put off digging deeper until now.
I like how it's not necessarily the end goal but opens the door for all kinds of modifications through it's fungible, worldwide, open-source nature. I think faith in any silver bullet blinds people to new innovations and over time becomes a trap.
The idea that bitcoin is monolithic and a complete solution will lead it to become just another artifice of control. I think that engagement with a sense of play will expand its possibilities while maintaining the kind of emotional distance needed to move on to the next improvement when the time is right.
Bitcoin is already being actively applied to the production of music and content writing where my interest lies and I look forward to seeing the latest permutations and innovations for collaborative projects in those fields.
I'm a political scientist who pays the bills as a handyperson. I'm working on making a transition to profiting from my work as a musician and a writer so I can spend as much time as possible with my son when he's born!
