My journey thus far has not been an extraordinary one. It is imbued with the spirit of the ancestors and our legacy. At 65, I have to come to realize that you don't need things to be happy. And so in my quiet times, I have started to reflect about life in general and the things that I have come to believe. I have come to realize that you need love of the Creator, family, friends, laughter, your personal truths & just sometimes - the solitude of the moment. I have come to believe that you must unload negative people and things just as you shed clothes that are sometimes too big, too old or too small. So as I settle down in NC, I now see beautiful sunsets and orange Venus skies that have eluded me in my past. Free from stress and anxiety, I now can feel the soft wisps of a summer wind. In my spare time, I have re-invented myself and now spend time learning line dances, Chicago Stepping and Salsa. I have started a hobby of making earrings. I have even planted bushes and shrubs!
Yes, I am now in my 65th wonderful, glorious, sexy years!
Friendships, stimulating thought, social networking, an opportunity to volunteer, travel with friends and encouragement to exercise daily.
Yes, I'll always try to be at most meetups.
Moving into a new state from Brooklyn, NY was exciting. But as I settle into this wonderful state, I found a need to add new friends, places and experiences. I thought that a great way to do all of the above was to organize a meetup group.
At this meetup, ai had a chance to get to know Barbara, JM, Bessie, & Susan.
