The Future of Entertainment: Digital Immersion, Integration and Interaction

RSVP and more info:
http://cinema.usc.edu/events/event.cfm?id=13594

All segments in media and entertainment have felt the impact of digital disruption. Audiences use computers, tablets, smartphones, and other devices to access content without time and location constraints. Beyond delivery and consumption however, digital technology will inevitably impact the way entertainment is structured, written and produced. This event explores three concepts that will shape that impact:

Immersion - moving stories from the confines of traditional formats into the real-world
Integration - using Web applications, social media and mobile technology as storytelling tools
Interaction - delivering content in a way that enables participants to take action, make choices, and engage in challenges

Speakers will share the exciting results of crafting leading-edge entertainment experiences and introduce you to the tools and platforms used to build them.

This event is well-suited for independent writers and filmmakers, entertainment executives, and anyone who works or wants to work in the entertainment industry.

Update (7/8)

We changed the event to a larger room (SCA 112), but not quite as large as I had hoped. You should now be able to make a reservation here: (http://cinema.usc.edu/events/reservation.cfm?id=13594 until the new limit is reached. Act quickly because spots will likely go fast.

Start Time:
Please note that this event begins at 6:30 (the meetup form would not let me schedule before 7pm for some reason).

For those who successfully reserve a spot on the USC event page:
I recommend arriving at 6pm in order to allow time to park and find the room. If you arrive after 6:45, your seat may be given to someone else.

For those who are not able to reserve a spot on the USC event page before it fills again:
Feel free to still show up because some who have reserved spots may end up not attending.

I'm hoping to make this an annual event that showcases a different set of cross-platform stories each time. And I'll make sure to reserve a much bigger theater next time.

Parking:
See the bottom of event page (http://cinema.usc.edu/events/event.cfm?id=13594) for parking information.

Can anyone share a success story on http://www.greenlightmymovie.com? Producers or writers can pitch a movie at the event or online this FRI-SAT starting at $39 per submission. This is good ONLY if you target the RIGHT agents or REPs. Disney is the only credible VIP listed. What's the effective venue for us?

Here are details regarding the Transvergence Summit that Robert mentioned.

The TransVergence Summit is a conference for content creators, branders and technologists to expand their transmedia knowledge in order to engage audiences across multiple platforms.

Thanks to everyone who attended the event last night. I hope everyone enjoyed the presentations and was inspired by the exciting possibilities in digital storytelling. I'm sorry the Q and A was cut short.

For those of you who couldn't make it, I'll post links to the videos after they are edited and uploaded.

As I mentioned before we're hoping to make this either an annual or semi-annual event held in the larger SCA theater that seats 340.

Charles advises to show up anyway since there are always people that RSVP but don't show up

IMPORTANT NOTE: please be sure to reserve your spot for this event on the following page http://cinema.usc.edu/events/reservation.cfm?id=13594 . The number of total reservations will determine which room they will use for the event. And I want to make sure it's big enough to accommodate everyone. Thanks.

Looks like an informative meetup & looking forward to it. A bit confused, though, since I was able to RSVP on the USC events page but am on the 'waiting list' here.

Think of this page as a doorway to the USC registration page. I believe a larger room was found. Meetup waitlist issue eliminated.

Yes, today we confirmed a larger room. We'll be checking names on the USC list at the door. So since you've reserved your spot on the USC event page then you are all set.

Hi John. I'm a new member. REAL new like "hours new"...Unfortunately, the event is full and no more RSVP's are seemingly allowed. Too bad I was really looking forward to it.

Thanks to all who've RSVP'd for this event thusfar! Feel free to post any topic-relevant questions you have. Check out the USC event page (http://cinema.usc.edu/events/event.cfm?id=13594) for topics and speaker bios. The event concludes with a panel discussion. And I'll be recording follow-up video interviews with the speakers to cover questions we don't get to ask during the event.

I'm about to launch a music library for film/TV and new media projects. After 25 years as an entertainment attorney, this is my calling. If you need music for your projects I have it. If you are interested in getting involved in placing music in webisodes, You Tube projects, etc., I want to talk to you. Check out my "coming soon" page at www.collardgreenmusic.com.
