PUBLIC - Reading/Discussion: Definitions and Theorems of Magick

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Reading/Discussion focuses on reading through source material, usually drawing upon the vast literary corpus of Aleister Crowley, and discussing the contents.

THIS WEEK: We will be reading “Definitions and Theorems of Magick” which comes from the beginning of the book “Magick in Theory and Practice.” This text contains many wise aphorisms as well as ideas that form the foundations of the theory of Magick in the New Aeon. Come join us to read along, give feedback, and listen to others' input on this concise yet enigmatic text.

I see a contradiction when juxtaposing => 'Do What Thou Wilt' and 'Love is the Law'. It implies that 'Love' is 'What thou Wilt'. Willfulness being either a heart function imbued with intention, or a stubbornness function of the mind and ingrained as a personality trait. Love may indeed be both, but only in the evolved individual. So perhaps Mr. Crowley is specifying his audience as being the only ones interested in or capable of recognizing "Truth". Some form of elitism? ok, your turn . . .
