How could I not? Crowley represents a towering figure in occult literature. There are elements of his personality which I do not wish to emulate, a human lay underneath the image he created. Still, similar to him, I struggle to achieve my own personal balance in this post-modern world.
Was Crowley really the prophet as described in the book of revelations? To say yes would be the wrong way to answer. To me what he understood was that our consciousness is part of an energetic matrix of a symbolic nature. A matrix which had certain explorable properties and he devoted his life to teaching his perspective on his personal discoveries. Were his discoveries subjective or objective truths? I think the key may be that these two seemingly opposing planes meet and become one in the spiritual realm out of view of our normal four dimensional reality. Did Crowley see gods and demons or were these aspects of the hidden part of his mind? If the macrocosm truely reflects into the microcosm then there is no need to make such a distinction. Should all advice from all spirits be followed precisely? No. I am interested in spending years following his trail of breadcrumbs but at the same time I try to see his strengths and his weakness, the light and the dark, of his nature and my own.
I already have, so yes.
I am an experimental electronic musician and audio engineer. My last album Nighttown is based on James Joyce's Ulysses and the Odyssey and is a symbolic journey into the underworld. www.nezzyidy.com
