Fullerton Public Library Location-CONFIRMED
353 W Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, CA 92832 (map)
UPDATE 11/8/13 - We are now looking for dates in early January 2014. Probably the first two weeks. That should give us enough time to line everything up including advertising. We need all the ducks in a row about a month and a half ahead of time to make this event work. If we fall out of our time schedule like in the past it will not fly properly. Hence the postponements. The library is excited to host this event and it is an outstanding venue.
We will be having an online video conference soon to have some planning time for those who would like to help with the logistics. We will post the info when it is available.
UPDATE 8/20/13 - We are looking for dates in early October to align everything. If you are interested in volunteering to help with this meeting please post dates that are NOT good for you in the "Join the discussion..." box below my post about "...looking at dates for early October..."
UPDATE: 5/9/13 - Ok, we are getting close to having all our ducks in a row to make this event happen so stay tuned for new information and how to be involved. JTa
UPDATE: This event is targeted for May. I will let you know as soon as we get a date confirmed by all the ducks that are being lined up in a row ; ) Thanks -=JT=-
The UPDATE: We have been approved for a big Regional Blender Users Meeting at this location. It will be on a Saturday and we will have a date confirmed soon. Our target is April now if I can get all the logistics worked out.
This will be a big regional meeting that will be co-sponsored by the library and advertised to the public. I expect about 60 or more people to attend.
It will probably be in the Community Room. I am talking with them about the details and will be open/advertised to the public. They have WiFi, a projector/screen and a large room.
There are a few good places close by to hang out afterward plus their new Greenhouse Cafe in the library is open.
ATM, the general format is as follows. We will be playing the open movies BBB, Sintel and ToS. We may have one of the Mango Team also via video chat or text chat available to talk.
We will have 4 presenters doing a range of topics. One of which is introducing Blender to artists who have never used 3D software. Another will be indie filmmakers. Both of these segments will be advertised to region wide. The other two topic slots are open to discussion.
There will also be a hands on segment that is like a learning lab where people who have brought their laptop will be able to download and install Blender then get a hands on tutorial on getting started.
A few computers/laptops will also be available for the general public to try out Blender if they did not bring their own computer. They will also be used for one-on-one demonstrations.
SIGGraph local chapters and other organizations are involved the the planning and coordination of this event.
More info on planning and volunteering coming soon.
