Bloomington D&D Message Board › Area-of-effect frames

I just had an epiphany about the area-effect frames we'd talked about yesterday, and realized I could easily make some out of crafting wire. Looks like I'm not the first to think of this way of doing it, but they don't seem to make 4th-ed burst squares.
I'm going to make some 3x3, 5x5 and 6x6 test squares--any other sizes we'd use regularly? Edited by Daniel on May 11, 2009 7:43 PM |

That sounds great to me...perhaps 2 or three duplicates of each size for multiple zone effects at once.

So far as I know, 3x3 and 5x5 are the most common. 4x4 occurs rarely and I've yet to see/use a 6x6, though I can make them. I'll echo duplicates just because we can also toss them out for quick Thunderwave/dragon's breath measurements.
As far as I can tell, the biggest effects (The lowest being a L9 daily and the rest falling into Paragon and Epic play) are Burst 3 (7x7), Burst 4 (9x9) and Burst 5 (11x11) but those are all off in the distance and don't require immediate (if any) attention. I've made a couple test squares: 3 3x3 and 5x5 and 1 6x6 (partially by accident--cut a little too much for a 5x5 and didn't want to waste it, but I really did think I remembered Colin enlarging a burst of some sort last time) in three colors and two gauges of wire so we can see how well they work.
See you all tomorrow. |
