Caelavan DeVakra

Quirk: Distrust of Devas
Caelavan might try to justify his distrust of Devas, claiming their immortal status unnatural or their mannerisms haughty, but fact of the matter is they just creep him out. Being from a more rural area, Cael never met any Deva as a young man. While this applies to most supernatural beings, Deva hold a special place in Cael's mind as particularity odd.

Item of personal importance: The Black Star
The Black Star is a military decoration of great distinction in Garrota, typically awarded only to the highest ranking leaders. While not official, it is commonly thought that the bearer of the star is next in line to command Garrota's military. While Cael did not earn this, his friend and fellow half-elf soldier, Commander Silvus Sunhallow, earned and wore it until his death. The star was entrusted to Cael after Silvus' death and he keeps it hidden in Olson until the time is right for someone new to wear it. Cael believes that the honor and authority it represents is key to uniting the Half-elf people and breaking the chains that bind them.

NPCs of note: Silvus Sunhallow and Oryn Belkov
Silvus Sunhallow was the would-be leader of the half-elf people of Garrota, a noble and respectable warrior whom Caelavan tried to model himself after. Silvus was killed during an ambush in the last weeks of the civil war in Garrota.

Oryn Belkov is an aristocratic half-elf thought of as a snob who abandoned his people for wealth and power.

NPC Plot Hook:
Did Oryn have a hand in Silvus' death?

Neil Emmenthal

Random Info:
Neil has been courting Abigail Sporrell, the daughter of the head of the Waxy Wheel Wensleydale Estate, for the past four years. She's allowed him to continue, but refuses to discuss marriage until Neil proves he is the true heir of House Emmenthal.

Item: Locket
Neil carries a locket that belonged to his grandmother, containing an etching of her holding him as a baby--a reminder that his parents are not the only family who love him, despite his aunt and cousin's current attempt to deny his lineage.

NPC: Phillipe
Phillipe, Neil's cousin, has never been particularly friendly with Neil, but in the past few years, he's been downright hostile. Neil thinks most of this has to do with his aunt's fears and Phillipe's ambition, but one of the main driving forces is Vortaan, the demon responsible for Neil's tiefling nature. Geoffrey's contract allowed
the demon subtle ties throughout the family tree, and Vortaan has sown seeds of discord throughout. Phillipe's dreams, much like Neil's, have been plagued with visions of demonic destruction. In Phillipe's case, though, it's Neil who destroys the family when he inherits the estate, bringing not only ruin to the Emmental family name, but fiery destruction to Jarlsberg.

Grawr Raker

Quirk: Volatile Temper

Most of Grawr's race are very primal, but Grawr is especially temperamental though he disguises it well. As the current king has destroyed his family and home village, Grawr is very raw about all that has happened and is close to exploding if his buttons actually get pushed. Only Caelavan has come close to making Grawr lose control as Caelavan has attempted to make Graawr reveal his true purpose in the party.

Item of personal importance: Warchief's Signet Ring

The ring is the last remnant of the once great Sekmet Warchief of The Sekmet Village. It is by this ring alone that Grawr claims noble blood and claims any rights amongst the Razorclaw Shifters that know of the once great Sekmet Tribe. As a Moonspeaker, Grawr has passed from Shifter Tribe to Tribe to speak on behalf of Sehanine and the Shifter race as a whole.

NPCs of note: The Shadow

The Shadow is Grawr's one and only contact to the Rebel Alliance. The Shadow does not speak to anyone but Grawr and the Rebels, but passes information and correspondence between Grawr and the Rebels.

NPC Plot Hook: What does the Shadow know? Can he be totally trusted? Does he truly work for the Rebels or some other agenda that has not yet been foreclosed?

Peiter Comstock

Peiter grew up in Garrota, raised by human parents. When he was old enough, his parents told him that he was essentially adopted, that his true parentage is unknown, and that he is indeed a half-elf. Determined not to let his fate be decided by his birth, as a young man he set out on his own, leaving a letter explaining to his parents why he must go. He left Garrota, and a year or two after this, the civil war in Garrota erupted.

Peiter traveled from town to town, either hunting for food or picking up a job in whatever town he came to. He is determined not to accept charity, and works for everything he gets. For a time, he enlisted in Barlock's army. It just so happens Peiter was part of the force that took over Garrota - the first time he had returned to his home in all those years. He left, then, and as he traveled he took other jobs - he was a city guard, a patrolman, for the city of Therund. He traveled to Ibynur for a while and worked for one of the logging companies there. When he grew tired of that he traveled to Trerea, and worked as a bodyguard and guide for those who wished to travel overland there.

One man, someone who never revealed his name or his purpose to Peiter, wished to travel all the way to the Mountains of Baion and beyond. It paid well enough that Peiter didn't ask questions. He took the man all the way through the mountains, getting right to the edge of the map, then would go no further. the man, an elf who talked little, walked on into the unknown alone. Peiter took the money he had earned and made the perilous journey back, winding up in the town of Hinibi. After his months-long journey, he was glad to be back in civilization. While he is there, the town is attacked, and he is asked to help.

Connection to Caelevan: Peiter and Cael grew up in the same town, and were friends when they were but children. When Peiter left, it was a quiet affair, and did not make much of a stir. Peiter recognized Cael when he was celebrated as a military leader and Peiter was in the king's army; they did not meet then, but Peiter was in awe of the great leader who was once his friend, as was everyone.

Items of personal importance:
1. the letter which accompanied him as an infant when he was left on the doorstep. It has a unique symbol on it, perhaps a family crest, yet no one he has met recognizes it. someday he will find out the truth of his lineage.
