Meet to discuss current book and choose next one.

Hi Everyone! I hope all of you have taken a moment to read the Summary of the Sept.19th meeting notes (available in the Discussion Area) and see that we've made quite a few changes.

Two of those changes include the meeting time - we've pushed it up a half hour to 7pm and the location - due to suggestions, we've decided to try out the Runcible Spoon on 6th Street. According to their site, the Spoon (Keith's suggestion) has been the only coffee roaster in town for over 25 years praised for its atmosphere and cuisine. So, why not?

In other words, we're shaking things up and playing location musical chairs for the next few meetings to check out different vibes and how we gel. Thanks to 3rd Thursdayer Keith for coordinating with the Spoon.

Note: They do have a small parking lot and FREE parking is available across the street in the Poplars Garage.

The agenda for this meeting is to discuss the book we should all have read by then (October - Children of Men) --and if you haven't, PLEASE don't let that stop you from attending. There is no way to jump in that's any better than showing up! So be there!

It's so exciting to continue to see new members join. We have an open welcome environment. If there are any questions or suggestions, don't hesitate to share.

Please, do take a moment to RSVP. If this is your 1st time attending, look for the group gathered around a table with lots of books and makeshift paper 'name plates'. I can't wait to hear from all of you and to meet face to face.

In my opinion, our last few meetings have been the best ones yet!

Laura

I was in a work meeting until 7:45 last night. Busy few weeks and I hadn't finished the book even. I hope to read what others thought or what was discussed in the meeting, if it's at all possible to describe briefly. Hope to see you all next time!

Your presence was missed, but things certainly happen for all of us. In the next few days, I'll be posting a recap of our CofMen discussions. I'll note when that's available here with the actual posting in the Discussions section.

It was a good meeting with the usual cast of characters and one new face. The Children of Men sparked some very interesting conversations.

Unfortunately I have to go to Michigan, my dad is sick. I enjoyed the book. I am really disappointed that I can't make it.

So sorry you won't be there, but of course we understand. Check back to see the meeting notes.

We are confirmed at The Runcible Spoon @ 7:00. There happens to be another book club there on Thursday so you are looking for the one in my name. Directly across the street is the Poplars garage. It's free in the evenings when the gates are up. Or you can park where you have for The Pourhouse meetings. It's only a block and a half away. The actual parking for the Spoon is down the alley right next to it. It's small and kind of a pain, though...

    Hi there ladies (and gent),
I am so sorry to have missed the meeting. My youngest brother-in-law passed away very suddenly the Friday before last. Needless to say, I was with family and our MeetUp fell out of my brain. How did everyone like Wonder? Its quite the opposite of Children of Men! I am planning to be at the meeting if at all possible on 10/17. I've read Children of Men and loved it. The movie is fantastic too. The Runcible Spoon is one of my favorite places in Bloomington. What a good choice!

    Happy reading,
    Alex

Alex, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Of course our Meetup wasn't on your mind, but your presence was missed. You can check out the summary from the meeting in the Discussion Area. Everyone did enjoy Wonder. Thank you for the recommendation. I think it was a great book to transition us out of A Thousand Suns. Glad you like C of Men. Curious what kind of survey feedback you received.
