Hello! It's that time of the month again, and for the past few months, we've been on a musical venue journey. So far, we've frequented The PourHouse Cafe, The Runcible Spoon, MCPL and Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream. For December, we've chosen Rachael's Cafe on 3rd Street.
As a pleasant surprise, Rachael's does provide parking for approximately (12) twelve cars. The building is shared by the Senoj salon and a few other businesses. If spaces are filled, you can find parking (unmetered) on Lincoln street.
Per their website, Rachael’s Café grew out of a desire to create a friendly, inclusive, peaceful atmosphere for all. Our mission is to bring understanding, education, and acceptance over a cup of coffee.
The quaint eclectic cafe and coffeehouse sits a few blocks from campus as well as downtown's Courthouse Square and is open til 9 pm nightly (except for Sundays, when it closes at 7 pm). Regarding entertainment, one can check out everything from bands, open mic, readings and poetry. In addition to serving as a great location to grab a quick bite, hold a meeting or get some quality work or studying done, the kitchen serves tasty fare including quiches, soups and pastries.
The agenda for this meeting is to discuss Nicole Mones' The Last Chinese Chef, plus the November MCPL Events (Book Plus Discussion and Power of Words). In turn, we've decided that we'll each bring our top (3) book choices to be considered for our 2014 reading. We plan to use the very formal process of picking titles for January - March from a hat.
It's so encouraging to see new members actively joining our book club. We welcome each of you and please come to our meet-up even if you haven't had the chance to read it.
Please, do take a moment to RSVP. I look forward to seeing each of you. As always, please don't hesitate to ask questions or make suggestions. We are a group whose collective voices matter.
