What would it mean to you to be a more confident and skilled speaker?

I have always had a real fear of public speaking and feel it's time to do something about it. I am hoping a group like this will give me the confidence to overcome it. Once I have the confidence and skill in public speaking, this will help me in my career and all other aspects of life. At present, I shy away from any forms of public speaking. I have attended courses, but unless you have a chance to consolidate it you end up back at square one. I am hoping this group will give me the chance to practice in a safe and supportive environment.

I am 47 years of age, married with two children. I live and work in London. I work for the Department of Work and Pension. I am a keep fit enthusiast, enjoy reading, watching movies and love to travel, when finances permit.
