We are a small, diverse group of readers from all walks of life who meet once a month to discuss books that claim to, or have the capacity to, completely change the way we view the world; books that contain ideas that can provoke a significant paradigm shift. We seek to be “wowed” by novel ideas, critical theories, and challenging perspectives that compel us to see ourselves and the world we live in differently. We want to blow-our-minds and we challenge the libraries of the world to challenge us.
We read fiction and non-fiction. Books that we have read so far include:
Blink, Sex at Dawn, River of Gods, Delusions of Gender, 2030: the Real Story of what Happens to America, and Super-Sad True Love Story.
We are currently considering:
Connectome; What Technology Wants; Heroes, Rogues and Lovers; Seven Types of Ambiguity; The Social Animal; River of Gods; A Brief History of Time; Cows, Pigs, Wars Witches: The Riddles of Culture. We meet once a month for drinks and lively discussion where we weigh what we have read to determine if it has blown our minds.
If you are interested in joining us, respond and tell us who you are, what you do, and what interests you about the group. We keep a list of book considerations that we encourage you to add to!
