explore Wirt's Path to the AT

We will be exploring and hiking Wirt's (Wert's) Path and the Pavement path to the AT. Our goal is to finish exploring this area. We plan to do it as a loop with the pipeline just to the east. This is as much scouting and exploring as hiking. If possible we will go to the Shikellamy Overlook and Shubert Gap. Hike will include a creek bed, a long steep climb, accidental side trails, dead ends, a boulder field and bushwhacking. Time on trail can vary from 3 hours to 5 hours depending on weather conditions, people in the group and terrain. This hike is for very fit beginners and experienced hikers who want something different and more rugged than a well used trail. GPS, maps and compasses are recommended equipment in addition to the usual hiking gear.

The road to the parking lot is rugged towards the end.

We will meet at our home by 8:15 that morning or at the parking lot in State Game Lands 80 at 9:00 a.m. . We live at 24 Pheasant Drive, Bernville, PA 19506. My phone # is 410.726.3045.

Hike starts at GPS [masked],-76.282058.

This was a new area to explore for us. We will be going back for at least another hike this winter or spring.
