Bolt Upright - Blue Diamond Club

• Schedule change: Meetup scheduled for Robbie Laws on Satuday night at BD. Unfortunately that schedule has changed as he will be performing with Karen Lovely at Duffs for her birthday bash. Bolt Upright is playing at BD Saturday instead.

BOLT UPRIGHT is a trio that plays a fun variety of blues, rockin' blues, rock 'n' roll, r&b, and funk. Ashbolt Stewart, the ringleader on drums and lead vocals, started the band in 2001 with wife (then girlfriend and brand-new bass player) Sus McDonald (short for "Susan") on bass, along with guitar wizard Adam Zwig and multitalented bluesman Guttman Phillips on guitar, harmonica and vocals. At first the band was called "A.S.A.P." for one initial each, but when Phillips left for a long trip to Spain, the band's name changed to BOLT UPRIGHT. When Adam went to work a month later on his own project, B-UP featured a young Chad Rupp on delta-style guitar, vocals and harmonica. Chad stayed for the first year of the band, and for its second through sixth years, Lynn Axtell lent his smokin' guitar, harmonica and vocals to the mix.

Blue Diamond Club: small, friendly club with medium-sized dance floor, no cover, drinks/food, and lots of parking.

Look for a BBLB reserved cluster of tables near the dance floor. Music starts 9:00 p.m.

See you then,
Aaron

Also, Randy Oxford will be at The Lehrer Saturday night. FYI on this event. It has been a couple of years since Randy Oxford has been to PDX to do a full length show. He's done several show's where he has set in, but nothing with his full band. He has also informed me that he has a couple of Portland's well known Blues artists coming to sit in and jam. This is going to be an epic event. Ashbolt and Bolt Upright are great, but you're not going to get to many chances to see The Randy Oxford Band.

Brad. You are 100% correct. Randy Oxford Band is amazing !! If I wasn't going to Karens bday party you know I'd be there. It will be a fabulous show. I hates to choose. If encourage people to go to the Lehrer tonight for sure. It's the place to be. Great dance music too.

HEADS UP EVERYONE - ROBBIE IS NOT at Blue Diamond on Saturday night. In fact he is performing with Karen Lovely at Duffs. Bolt Upright is at The Blue Diamond. Thought you might want to know.

And so I know who is in Karens band for her special birthday bash show. Robbie is playing in her band - it will not be a Robbie show. It's a Karen show. 2 sets. 1 prohibition blues And the 2nd contemporary blues but all Karens with Robbie just in the band. Plus you can look on the blue diamond site and see ashbolt is playing. If you listened to Dr Janes KMHD lowdown last night you would have heard Karen talking about who is going to be in her show tonight. Hope that answers your question.

I hurriedly signed up before seeing that my husband had already signed us both up. So I'm coming--just didn't want to mess up the count. Can't wait! Den
