Board & Card Games Marathon @ West LA -- January 25

  • January 25, 2014 · 12:00 PM
  • St. Bede's Church

We're starting the year off with an all-day event of boardgames and card games!  We're renting the room for nine hours, so feel free to come for a quick game or two, or stay for the long haul.

If the only games you know are Monopoly, Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit, you're in for a treat!  Come check out some of the best games you've never heard of.  Escape from a pirate fortress, travel through time, rampage through Tokyo, survive zombies, build a railroad empire, bluff your way through trivia, unmask the hidden traitor, and more.

We'll have TONS of board games & card games to choose from (well, it feels like tons when we're loading the car!).  You're also welcome to bring your own games to share.

Game captains will be on hand to lead games, introduce members, and explain rules, so don't worry if you haven't heard any of these games. Part of the fun is learning! Board games are a great "thinking person's relaxation" and offer much funny and odd fodder for conversation.

WHO?

This event is great for newcomers and veterans alike. Meet some new friends, bring a friend or three if you like, and get ready to have some fun! IT'S OKAY TO "JUST SHOW UP"!

TIME?

The event starts at NOON and goes til 9 PM.  At 5 PM we hand out prizes: four randomly-determined attendees will win sealed copies of this month's mystery giveaway games.

We'll round out the evening with a large game of Werewolf (deduction, misdirection, and hidden agendas for eight to thirty players).

COST?

$10 adults, $5 for kids 12 and under.

ANYTHING ELSE?

There are plenty of places to grab food nearby. People tend to get dinner between 5 and 6 (after the prizes and before Werewolf).  There are some snacks for sale on-site.

Hope to see you there!

Is it just me, or does a great game of Werewolf leave you with a euphoric afterglow?

It is a terrific and possibly unique experience--I love how there's always discussions afterward, and how eliminated players become spectators of the endgame.
