Play Games

Welcome to our regular Wednesday night board games session: 3 - 4 hours of good fun and the perfect way to break up the working week.

We play a wide variety of games. There will be some that you will have heard of and some that you may not have heard of. Some will last a whole evening, whilst others will only be a hour or so. Some are seriously strategic, but most are fairly light hearted. In short, something for everybody!

We'll be playing in groups of 3 - 6 players, so there's always plenty of choice each week. If there's a particular game that you want to play, then please suggest it in the comment's section below or else sign up if somebody has already suggested a game.

Of course, everybody and anybody is welcome to join :)

Junta, anybody? The game of tinpot South American dictators, involving looting the country, assassinations, suspicion, backstabbing and coups. Outrageous bad accents are encouraged. It's for up to seven players and will last all evening. I'll reserve one place to be filled on the night, so there are five places up for grabs. Details: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardg...

Ok, where is the best place to park?

Most of us the car park for the Cockhedge Shopping Centre, which is just around the corner from the main bus station. You'll have to take a ticket at the automated barrier to get in, but by the time we finish the barriers have been raised and so you don't have to pay.

Anyone interested in a game of Race For The Galaxy? I have the game but don't know how to play it so someone who isn't clueless about it is obviously required (and patience).
It's 4 player so it could take three goons, one person who knows what they're doing with an infinite amount of patience.

Not selling this concept very well I fear.

With the US about to join forces with Iran (the evil empire) to stop the forces of ISIS from taking Baghdad, current news headlines are sounding more and more like the latter stages of a game of War on Terror. We'll have to get a game in again sometime soon, before real life events completely overtake the game and Obama appears on telly wearing a balaclava.

Depends on people fancy. I'm considering bringing:
Wiz war, 5 players, wacky wizard fighting.
    Red November, 8(?) daft coop.
Cosmic Encounters, 7 players, alien negotiation
Ghost for sale, 5(?) players, quick bidding and bluffing.

And considering Settlers of Catan with a selection of mini expansions from Traders and Barbarians.

Plus the things that always stay in my bag.
But as always I'm open to requests =]

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
