Pub Werewolf night! (also tabletop games)

Pub Werewolf night! (also tabletop games)

6.30 pm, till late

The Local Taphouse

184 Carlisle St, St Kilda

(near 3, 16 & 78 trams and Balaclava train station)

Entry is free, and we even get a discount on one of the tap beers! You'll also have the option to make a gold coin donation (to Amnesty International and/or the Electronic Frontier Foundation).

Join us in the Local Taphouse's games room for an evening of social gameplay in the classic game of deception and detection.

We will be running games of Werewolf throughout the night, and anyone is welcome to join. If you're eliminated and don't want to stick around and watch until the next game, the Local has a small collection of board games - or you're welcome to bring your own and play with other gamers! (Easy jump-in-and-out games will make it easy to mesh with the ebb and flow of Werewolf players.)

We usually get through three games per group, with a 20- to 30-minute break between each, and we're currently getting a couple of groups going at once - and there are usually a few people sitting out for meals and/or other games as well, so other gaming is always an option too.

Discounted beer! The Local has generously decided to give us a discount on one of their tap beers. Mention that you're playing Werewolf and they'll give you the Budvar for $5! (Hmm, what to do with the money you save...? Donate some of it to Amnesty/the EFF perhaps?)

    Hi,

This is obviously too late for this meetup, but maybe for the next one...

I recently bought a copy of Fantasy Chess (www.shadowhex.com). This is a chess variant that adds some RPG-like mechanics (rolling to hit, hit points, bishops and queens healing damage etc.).

I wonder if anyone would be interested in playing this if I bought it along?

Hi James, see my comment to Levent below about Pictionary - you're welcome to bring it to try, but we generally find that because Werewolf is harder to get a group for, people want to play that if they can, and longer games (which this would be from the sounds) tend to get squeezed out. If you're willing to take a chance, and happy to play or watch some Werewolf if it doesn't work out, then by all means bring it along and see if you can find some more players, but I would hate you to be disappointed.

Just a quick note to anyone planning ahead - next month, the first Tuesday is Cup Day, so it'll be the second Tuesday (the 12th) instead. I'll post it up in the next week or so.

I know this is a late reply, and I already responded in person, but for the record and for anyone else who's wondering, I'm always open to ideas and suggestions!

Good night! Don't think we quite reached the complexity tipping point we hit last month.

First win as a werewolf. Impressive display by some of the first timers.
