All Games Welcome Session @ Cafe Games

  • This location is shown only to members

All kinds of games welcome at this session - light party or heavy euro strategy! Note the starting time of 5pm

Newcomers are encouraged to start with the earlier session - the "Social Games" Meetup event, but if you can’t make that, this session will still be welcoming. The restaurant will also be serving food from 5-9 with drinks available.

All sorts of games are welcome at this session, including but not limited to:

•  traditional games such as chess, draughts and mahjong

•  modern strategy games such as Powergrid, Arkham Horror, Pandemic, 7 Wonders

•  party games like Dixit, Pictionary, Articulate ...

Yes I will be bringing along *some* games, but this sort of event works best when everyone helps out.

GOLD COIN donation appreciated - helps with costs.

Pay: for food, drink as you go. (This is a restaurant, not your mate's garage, so I should not need to spell out that it's inappropriate to bring your own food and drink)

I can see why the move was needed from Bull & Bear to Celtic Club. Bull is easy too small for us, everyone was constantly shuffling around trying to find spare tables.

Yes, usually when we go to the Bull & Bear I limit the numbers, but it had been a while since we'd been overcrowded, and limiting numbers is always an unpopular move. (Also I didn't know we wouldn't have the lower room this time) Back to the Celtic Club next month!

Until what time is it worth coming? Could make it around 9 - will there still be people playing?

Hi Philipp yeah people always play right up to the event end - there were still people going just after 11 !

I might not be able to make it tonight (sob sob). Have a great time. Damn I miss playing something other than Scrabble.

Likely unable to make it after all... though maybe late (around 830). So sorry, and hope to make another one!

Hay ya, looking forward to my 1st game nigh! I got a cool card game called Gloom i can bring along if people want?

    January 10, 2014

    • Christopher

Sure, Gloom is a fun game :-) Especially if you do story telling. Of course because it's a social/party game it's welcome in the 12-5 session as well :-)

Hi, I'm interested if anyone could teach me "A few acres of snow". I don't have a copy but it seems to get good reviews.

Hi Tom, this is indeed a well-reviewed game and looks amazing! The rules are somewhat involved. If someone brings a copy, I would suggest checking out a rules primer such as this one: (if you don't mind a few mosaic transitions). The nitty-gritty starts at the 1:13 mark and runs just over 20min. Then getting any final clarifications with your opponent on Saturday. Good luck!

Hey there folks, glad to see you're returning for an exciting new year of boardgames! Please notice that I've had to change the location to the Bull & Bear tavern in Flinders Lane. I remember many of you told me you prefer this place, but I'm sorry it's only going to be for this month! (Yes they are quite nice)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
