Party & Social Games Session @ Cafe Games

Yes, this is a dedicated session for all kinds of party and social games! No euros or strategy games.
More of a social club than a strategy session!

The restaurant lunch menu is available from the bar from 12 to 3 and drinks too! "Eat, drink and be merry!"

If you’re new, I highly recommend you start during this session, so you get to meet a variety of people, in some lighter games, before getting into the long strategic games of the later session.

We’re looking for

Party games, like Dixit, Pictionary, Telestrations, Taboo, Cranium, Reverse Charades, Billionaire, Perpetual Commotion, Articulate, Anomia, Cards Against Humanity etc

• Word games, like Scrabble, Scattergories, Boggle

• Tile games, like Qwirkle, Rummikub, Dominos,

• Card games, like Uno, 500, Bridge, Canasta

• Dexterity games, like Jenga, Crokinole, Bausack and Foosball

• and of course the Psychological/Negotiation games like Werewolf (Mafia), The Resistance, Bohnanza

If you've never played these games before, we're more than happy to show you how. :-)

You’ll notice that after 5pm the latter half of this session overlaps with the “All Games” event. You’re welcome to stay on and continue to play lighter games or even try some more strategic games. ( In case you’re wondering, ruling is, Munchkin is strategy. )

Yes I will be bringing along *some* games, but this sort of event works best when everyone helps out.

GOLD COIN donation appreciated - helps with costs.

Pay: for food, drink as you go. (This is a restaurant, not your mate's garage, so I should not need to spell out that it's inappropriate to bring your own food and drink)

Saw a game that I didn't get a chance to play and wanted to find out what is called. It had TV three clear platforms and pyramid shaped pieces, one set white, the other black. Can someone tell me what this game day?

Indeed, it's 3-D "Noughts and Crosses" or Connect-4 - I brought 2 copies to the November Cafe Games. I'm writing a review of it at the moment. It's a fun little thing.

I usually have a simple game in our pod at work to play during the day and I think this one fits the bill.

Hey there folks, glad to see you're returning for an exciting new year of boardgames! Please notice that I've had to change the location to the Bull & Bear tavern in Flinders Lane. I remember many of you told me you prefer this place, but I'm sorry it's only going to be for this month! (Yes they are quite nice)

Hi Deb, the reply above yours that starts "Howdy Folks" links to the two blog updates.
I also encourage people to join our Facebook page (as per the sign I had up on Saturday), articles are there
      https://www.facebook.c...
Two emails went out on Friday at 4:51pm to remind people in each event about the location change and they were mentioned there (the archive only shows rare emails that are sent to the whole group.)
There's also "cafegamesclub" on Twitter that linked them, as well as the Cafe Games email updates list, as well as the Wordpress blog subscriptions :-)

Sorry Chris but my intention of going by public transport has proven to be a BAD idea. Sunbury line is closed, buses replacing the trains are useless and it was 1.30 by the time I ended in North Melbourne ready to get the train to Flinders. I gave up as I was to leave at 3 o clock anyway for other commitments. I'll try my luck next time by driving to the City or an alternative route.
I was so looking forward to meet you guys. Again, terribly sorry.

I would love to come and have a stack of games I can bring. Is anyone driving in from out my way who can give me a lift in? I live in Knoxfield.

    January 6, 2014

    • Christopher

Great to hear about the games you're bringing Abbi, but sorry I'm not near Knoxfield. But I'm looking forward to seeing what you're bringing. Just party games for this session or a mix of party and strategy games? :-)

Anyone up for playing Dominion (with Prosperity and/or Hinterlands expansion)? Got Hinterlands for Xmas and haven't tried it out yet! I am up for trying any other fun game...

    January 5, 2014

    • Jason

I'll definitely be up for some Dominion as well. Been working on my game, and I still suck! But, feel I'm ready to learn more now since I know the base set pretty well.

      January 5, 2014

Hehe yes, not really a party game ;-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
