TurfMaster, Meet#2: Dusseldorf

.......Meet#1 was great! We did three races on the Classic Oval, and now with Harold doing Win, Place & Show this week, I wanted to keep it alive with a second meet of TurfMaster but this time at Hoppegarten with some steeplechase thrown in for good measure: .................................................................The Hoppegarten Meet consists of 1 full distance flat race (2,800m with 10 cards), 2 short distance races (1,400m with 5 cards each). and 1 steeplechase (2,600m with 10 cards).....Allow 4 hours for this Meetup . . . AND . . . Eight players is best.................

An embarrassing performance. Clearly I'm in need of a better jockey and trainer. I thought this game was sort of fun, but I think 3 races probably makes more sense than 4. It just seemed to get a little duller and more repetitive, especially replaying the same race. Also, I thought the handicap feature was clever, but I would have rathered the game played entirely with cards and no dice rolling. Still, I had fun and was glad I tried it out. I think it's a game that would suit loud individuals (no names) who like to groan about their misfortune.

TurfMaster, Meet #2: Dusseldorf was won by Cory, but only by a nose! Amanda and Cory tied with 100 points at the end of 4 races. The tie was broken based on the positions of the two tied horses at the end of the fourth race. I have been claiming that these TurfMaster Meetups would take a full four hours, but we have consistently finished in under three hours.

The next TurfMaster Meetup will be on October 11th. Stay tuned.
