Welcome to the Pasadena Bodhi Path Meetup Group. We have been meeting weekly in Pasadena since 2004. We are currently meeting in the Pasadena Senior Center,

Wednesdays from 7-8:30 pm.

We offer weekly workshops on all topics related to Meditation and Buddhist Practice as well as weekend events and an annual Summer Retreat. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Weekly Workshops

Each week of the month will be dedicated to a particular workshop covering various aspects of meditation practice and Dharma study. The workshop format implies an active engagement in a process. We try something out, think about it, talk about it, and come to our own conclusions based on experience. As we engage in the process with sincerity we gain confidence in our own innate qualities.

First Week of the Month

Meditation Workshop – The Basics

This workshop will be dedicated to mindfulness meditation and is ideal for anyone  who is beginning the practice of meditation as well as those who want to refresh and clarify the foundations of mindfulness meditation practice. We’ll cover everything related to the development of focus and concentration in practice as well as posture, breath, what to do with thoughts, sensations, feelings and more.

Second Week of the Month

Meditation practice and Bodhi Path Curriculum Class

This workshop is a comprehensive course of study following guidelines set out by Shamar Rinpoche. We will cover a wide range of topics such as Buddhist Meditation using Shamar Rinpoche’s The Path to Awakening, Buddhist Conduct and Ethics using Gampopa’s The Jewel Ornament of Liberation, and The Buddhist View of Reality using Mipham Rinpoche’s The Gateway to Knowledge.

Third Week of the Month

Meditation plus Dharma Conversation

An essential step in learning is making the effort to express what you understand to others. The very effort to do so either clarifies our understanding or makes us realize that we need to study more. This workshop, designed to be relaxing and fun will give all students the opportunity to articulate what they think they know in a conversational style. This process is voluntary and no one will be put on the spot.

Fourth Week of the Month

Meditation Workshop – Going Deeper

This workshop will be dedicated to awareness and compassion as developed through meditation practice. We will focus on stabilizing meditation practice in order to gain insight into and confidence in the true nature of mind. Practices, such as Sending and Taking and Chenrezig will be included.

Fifth Week of the Month

March, May, August, and November only.

The year 2017 has only four months with a fifth Wednesday. We will decide together what happens in these workshops and of course some of the time will be dedicated to Meditation Practice. If there are newcomers will we offer guided instruction.
