I am still struggling with stamina but can go a lot farther than at first. I do my best when I run 2 minutes and then walk 2 minutes. I did the SA, 1/2 in Nov. 2011 that way and was surprised at the results.
Great folks and very patient. Really enjoy getting to know more people outside of my usual circle!!
Lots of people are doing the method Jeff Galloway proposes which is to run 2 minutes, walk 2 minutes. A client of mine did the whole SA 1/2 marathon that way and finished in 2.5 hours! I've also heard 3 run/2 walk, 30 seconds of each...etc.
We'd love to have a walkers 'sub-group' several people would rather walk than run. My daughter Chloe is planning on walking the SA 1/2 marathon this fall. She walks some with a friend now just a little, but another friend of hers and her mom did the 1/2 this past year. She would have train with them for that if she had know prior to a week before the run/walk. Her friend she currently walks with and her mom are probably going to walk the 1/2 also.
