Student loans - the can of worms that ate the can

Should the government be making "profits" off of student loans? Have loans in general played too much of a part in rising education costs? Is getting a degree too much to expect for everyone born after the 60s? Many questions, long answers will surely be needed.

Covers many things that we talked about outside of loans

Attention! Due to the sweeping success and popularity of the "Let's talk about sex" series, there will be topic-related "mini sex-talks" at the end of every discussion topic now. The "Animal Edition" last week was very well received, even the animals had a blast and got along fantastically (Ha and the turkey are Facebook friends now!). So, this time we're going to have: "Let's talk about sex, part IV: Tight student budget edition." We'll be talking about how rising student loan debt forces more and more students to make their own sophisticated sex toys from everyday household items, things that grow (and possibly crawl and slither) in the garden, garage sales, flea markets, second hand shops, even garbage dumps etc.. It is unacceptable that only the "rich kids" are sexually satisfied enough to be able to concentrate on school and good grades. The resulting grade discrepancies make it harder for the debt-ridden students to find well-paying jobs! ....cont.

Talking to me? If so...just chill and drink some tea, Philip. It may calm your nerves. Joking around does not indicate I'm not interested. When I come, I deliver.

Something along those lines. :) Since you seem to look forward to it, we'll lengthen your punishment by another hour or two or three...

      Upward mobility....pipe dream for most.

Because most people look at it like Underwear Gnomes. They think it works like:

      Step 1: Get any degree
      Step 2: ????
      Step 3: Upward mobility

No, your art degree that you spent 80k per year going to UCLA for will likely never have an ROI, because young artists are not in demand.

Yet at the same time people seem to want to believe that just any degree is a path forward. It's not. A degree in Chicano studies is not a good investment if you're going to school for upward mobility.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
