Have a Red Neck Yacht Club Party

July is HOT! No better way to spend it is in the water keeping cool. There is a big pond (Quinn's Pond) at Reflections Apartments. We are going to take a raft out there that everyone can hook to. We have a big flat board on the raft for dancing and diving off to do your oh-so-talented flips into the water. We will have a 90 quart cooler with ice to keep your drinks cold. We will be out in the middle of the pond and easy to spot! Paddle out in whatever water vessel you own. A big rubber duckie, an inner tube, your kid's Barney water wings, an inflatable snake... whatever, the sillier the better, just get out to us. You can rent paddle boards from Idaho River Sports which would be fun to take turns paddling around on. Bring whatever you want to drink. It must be cans and any alcohol must be concealed in a red solo cup. Park somewhere around Idaho River Sports. This will be shy of hilarious as well as a great way to stay cool during the hottest part of a July day!

Pleasanton Avenue is between Main and State street just 5 blocks north of Main off of 27th. Head 4 blocks west on Pleasanton until you run into Idaho River Sports

Wow, I am so disappointed to miss this cause I remember when Heather got the idea while swimming at my pool at Reflection's apts. There were a ton of floats out on the pond and she said" We should have a big party like that" and I agreed. But, I will have to miss this one, as Jim has something else planned. But, next year....

    July 27, 2013

  • Tracey M

OK, Changed my mind, AGAIN! I will bring Jim and I have 2 $5 SUP rentals. I think I can even get an anchor attached to each one so they will stay in 1 place. We could dive off them or just sit on them or paddle around too.

    July 25, 2013

    • Kristi L

      Whats sup? Lol.

      July 26, 2013

    • Tracey M

Hahaha Stand Up Paddleboard. They rent them at Idaho River Sports rite next to the pond. The board and paddle usually rent for $10-$20 I think, depending on how long you have them. Just ask at the desk. They have a ton of them.

If anyone has to bring their cell phone, zip it up in a Ziplock with some air in it so it will stay dry and not sink if you drop it in the water.

  • Renea

We will bring a Coleman stove if anyone wants to "grill" something. Maybe fish from the pond or a random frog or lizard!

Wish I could make it, but I am going to the Boise Music Festival. Stay cool and have fun!

  • Heather G.

We called Parks and Rec to find out about alcohol. No alcohol within 250 feet of the Greenbelt but there are no restrictions on Quinn's pond. We want to keep it under wraps so we should still pour drinks into cups. Just make sure if you bring alcohol, you can't have an open container withing 250 feet of the Greenbelt.

We are going to need some help carrying the boat/s to the water so if anyone wants to come at 2:30 and help us, that would be great. Let me know ahead of time if you can help out. Also, we will have 90-quart cooler with ice if you need a cold place for your drinks. I will bring a case of water as well. I have my red neck hat and my overalls ready to go! If you have any way to display the "red neck" theme, bring it on!
