Rake Up Boise - Our Fifth Year

I've giving our homeowner a little time to wake up, but I just can't see raking through the snow! I'm officially canceling this. Let's plan on rescheduling for next week. Breaking News! (or is it Raking News?)

One of our homes is not ready for us to come rake. I have scheduled another raking day for Saturday, 11/23.  So...

- We don't need as many people for the 11/16 day, if you want to drop out (hopefully at least 10 folks will still rake on the 16th)

- We need rakers for 11/23

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's time again for one of our favorite events, Rake Up Boise!
BAS participates every year.  Here's how it usually goes:
We get 2-3 houses assigned and we split into groups of 8-10 people.  So we need a team captain for each group.
We meet in a place (or places) near each home and carpool to the house to rake.
Afterwards, each time goes out for breakfast. Normally we're done with breakfast by Noon-ish.
I have registered BAS with NHS, and am waiting to get our house assignments.  Once I get the information I will update this event with the addresses.
We do need at least 15-20 people, so if you could go ahead and RSVP that would be helpful. We can figure out teams (and captains) when we know the location of the homes in a week or two.
Kids are MOST WELCOME to come help...they really enjoy it.
Bonus: We often get Appreciation Goodies from our clients!  ;o)
    Good Morning Volunteers!
    Diane asked me to Capitan the team for this Saturday and she is going to Captain for next Saturday. I checked the detailed weather forecast and according to Larry Gebbert, who we can all agree is never wrong , it is supposed to start raining tonight about 5:00pm and continue to rain through Saturday. I think we all know in Boise sometimes that means a slight drizzle, sometimes that means monsoon type rain. So I am going to see if I can contact the homeowners and find out if they would be amenable to us raking another day if it is terribly wet outside. Aside from not wanting to rake in the pouring rain, I am thinking that wet soggy leaves will be more difficult to rake and pick up. No to mention will be way heavier. Let's plan on keeping things as-is for the time being. I will post a cancellation notice as soon as reasonable to the website, but we could always meet and have breakfast? Stay Tuned!
      Staying tuned! I was just thinking about how heavy those leaves can get. Whew! I am exhausted thinking about it. Lol
      This raking thing is always dicey, weather-wise. If we end up doing both houses on the 23rd then it will be nice to see the big group as originally planned!
    - Sage, do you still want the leaves from that house?
    November 13, 2013
  • Allen
    Holy cow! Only 6 or so men signed up! Come on guys, a little help here. If anyone wants the leaves, I can haul them to somewhere in Boise, just ask me.
      Hi Sage, I drive a Golden Bronze F-350 Ford, with wood racks. Make sure you find me in the parking lot near Fred Meyer, on Federal Way, so I can get you the leaves you want.
      November 13, 2013
    • Diane
      Neither homeowner is spraying, so we should be good to give you the leaves.
    So it's looking like rain is in the forecast for Saturday, so make sure to be prepared! I'll prepare by bringing a mini Bailey's to slip in my coffee ;)
    Hi All. We got our house assignments. They're both in the Federal Way area: one is off Broadway and the other is off Bergeson. Let's all just meet in the Fred Meyer parking lot and we can split into groups, distribute the bags and then head to the houses from there.
    Do you mean meet at the Fred Myer's on Orchard & Franklin? Where in the parking lot? Do you have a phone number to reach you if one can't locate you or will be a bit late?
    November 12, 2013
    • Kristi L
      Looks like I should read my emails. Lol.
      November 12, 2013
      Sage there is a Fred Meyer on Federal Way. Probably park more towards the Kentucky Fried. Away from the businesses.
    I'd like to help AND love to have the leaves of any yard that doesn't spray. I'm building up a large new garden bed & need leaves. Is this possible?
