Movie Marathon and Salsa Dancing

We're planning to break out the projector and big speakers for this all-day event. Come join us for as long or short as you'd like to at the Raintree Village Clubhouse for some movies, board games and later some salsa dancing.

We haven't picked out the movies for sure yet, so if you have one you'd particularly light to see, leave a comment so we can all weigh in!

Let's make it a potluck, so you can also comment with what you'd like to bring so we don't double up. But if you want to bring a few bucks and pool our resources for pizza, we can do that too.

But we cannot have alcohol in the clubhouse during the day due to clubhouse rules. Sorry!

Directions: Coming from I 275, exit on East Fowler Avenue. After passing through intersection with north 56 Street take a left at light at Raintree Boulevard. Then take an immediate left turn and the clubhouse parking lot is on the right.

If coming from I 75, exit and and go down state road 582 (East Fowler Ave). Past the intersection with Gillette Avenue, take a right onto Raintree Boulevard. Then take the first immediate left into the clubhouse parking lot.

Special thank you for James who brought the projector and Pratyoush who brought the speakers :) It wouldn't be the same without them.

Also, we'll need some bottled water :) There's no water fountain there. It's easy to get thirsty eating anything spicy or when dancing.

This is neat: I found a song that combines latino rhythms and arabic elements (a hybrid of two genres). Part of it sounds like a bollywood song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJq-lgmdsc8

It is called Un Chi Chi by Aventura. I have no idea what the lyrics are about, but it's catchy. Enjoy

I will be bringing coffee flavored ice cream, plastic plates, cutlery and cups, pomegranate juice, microwave popcorn, hummus and chips, some sweets (cookies and chocolates). Feel free to bring nothing or something to munch on (it's up to you) - you can bring things similiar to mine especially if they are different flavors.

And good news is that I found out the clubhouse has free internet there, so we can stream movies live from some website. Maybe if someone has a netflics account, we could get the movies from there or an equivalent site?

      March 16, 2014

    • Caitlin

yes, I'll bring my laptop with Netflix access. :)

      1 · March 16, 2014

I have big stash of new films - too many to list here. Also have some all-time faves - Bobby (Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia), Sholay (Dharmendra, Amitabh, Amjad "Gabbar Singh" Khan), and Deewaar (Amitabh Bachchan) - and Bollywood song DVDs (dance to "Go Balle Balle", anyone?).
I'll just bring a bunch of these along; don't think my car would mind the extra load...lol!

I heard there were other films that are associated with the topic of the movie 'Water'. Maybe we could do a show of hands when we get there and that's how we'll pick what we will screen? Or alternately, there are several rooms there, so theoretically another movie can be shown for some who want to see a different film while a different film is being shown in the main room :) I will bring my laptop although it is ancient. Feel free to bring your computer too.
