Water temps are rising - it's time to get wet!! Need to hone in on your kayaking skills? Come join me at the Geneva Kayak Center (GKC) Fox River location in taking the Intro to Kayaking course. The course is designed for the novice who is interested in kayaking but has limited or no experience in a boat. This class covers basic strokes and safety for recreational kayakers on calm water. After this course, paddlers should feel comfortable paddling a kayak on smaller bodies of water such as flatwater rivers, small lakes and ponds. Hey, if you're not a novice but an experienced kayaker, join us anyway! There's always room for improvement. This class is a pre-requisite for renting a kayak from Geneva Kayak Center if the paddler has limited experience. Once you've taken this course, you can then rent kayaks at the Geneva location anytime. Fee must be paid in advance to secure a position in the class. The fee includes a kayak, PFD, paddle, 2.5 hours of instruction from a GKC instructor and tour along the Fox River. You will need to call GKC to make the payment. Let him know that you are signing up for the Level 1 class on Saturday July 24th at 1pm and will be joining me (Feis).
Please call Geneva Kayak Lakefront at[masked] to register. You'll also need to give them your height and weight so that they can match you with the best fitting boat. For more information, visit the GKC site at

Jericho Lake was not as good as Fox River, but water was clear and only one person's kayak tipped over.

That would be great, I don't see any issue with the schedule change, we'll switch with the Starved Rock Hike. Congratulations. Please do Register as soon as possible though. Thanks.

Feis, I'm due to deliver my baby in late June, but if we moved this to late July I should be out on the water again and maybe we can rally all the peaople from last years kayak meetup to join us. They will not need to retake the class, just rent a boat. Let me know what you think.
