I love my kindle for all my basic reading but have a great passion for books as art. I love inventing and creating books and also like altering books. I'm currently writing/developing art for a futuristic, graphical series.

How are you involved in the evolution of the book?

My main interest is in pushing the boundaries of tangible books to be appreciated as works of art which can also carry an extended story. I view my current w.i.p. as a project which both carries several full-length novels within and is a collection of books which create an environmental aspect in which the story is contained. Some of my favorite applications involve pop-up or other dimensional structures and i also really love origami. I have a long way to go before I can say my origami will have the wow factor I aspire to. But there is so much to explore through natural media, and so much satisfaction in creating beautiful pieces which intrigue and are a pleasure to hold in one's hands! Evolution? I think pursuing any perceived boundary in one's chosen object of fascination will give rise to evolution. I think creating works which cause the perciever to pause and perceive a stillness of thought, then to take pleasure in being transported to another realm would fit the bill.

Welcome, CP Wren! To writing and back to the "overly civilized." I love the Sierra as a getaway. You might enjoy meeting SF Chapman at our April 27 meetup, given what you write about. Lot of luck with Glimmer Train---I know how challenging those journals are. But it would be nice to be paid for your writing.
