What??? Another non fiction! This time we'll discuss the adventures/challenges of 2 society girls as they tame the wild expanses of Colorado in the early 1900s.

Bring appetizers to share & don't forget the wine!

Nita will be hosting.

For me, this was one of the most enjoyable meetups because I like discussing books that are more focused on women's historical and cultural experiences.

Hi Ladies! Nita, thanks so much for hosting. Really fun. Some of you asked me to share the information about the mentoring organization I'm involved with. They are Partners Mentoring Youth, and here's a link to the volunteer page:

I am swamped at work - end of month closeout. I'm not going to be able to get away in time to make it tonight. I'm sorry to miss you all but hope you have a good time / discussion!

I came down with strep throat today. So sadly I can't attend tonight. My mother-in-law, Judy, might still go, but I'm not sure. I hope you all have a great time!

Sorry to miss; this one sort of snuck up on me. See you all next month!

Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving and is enjoying this month's book. A couple of things I wanted to mention -

I should have enough seating for about 17-18 people.

I'll have red wine and Indian appetizers out. Let us know what you're bringing!

I'll have the porch light on, and a Christmas wreath on the door (not very distinctive this time of year, but yeah). I do have a med-large friendly dog who will be mingling with us part of the time. Hope everyone is ok with this!

Looking forward to seeing you all!

Hi Nita! I will bring a fig / goat cheese appetizer and red wine. May I use your broiler for 2-3 minutes? Looking forward to meeting you! Tlyn

Sounds like I may be in the minority in that I have "read" the book. By read I mean downloaded it from audible.com and listened to it at double speed to shorten it up a bit. :) See you all tomorrow! I'll bring wine.

Next Dec short read a definite!!

Just wondering...Since there are so many who haven't read and or finished this month's book, is it because of the holiday bus-i-ness, or lack of interest? If it's because of the holiday season, maybe taking a break during the holiday season should be considered?

I love meeting during the holiday season, though, since everything is so festive and nice. Perhaps we could pick lighter reads during busy times next year (holidays and summer months).

I was looking forward to reading it, just been a busy few weeks. If others are equally busy, maybe we could have only one book for the months of Nov/Dec and then have a holiday party. Or, as Nita suggested- very short and light reads. Either way, looking forward to the next get together! :)

I'm trying really hard to finish it! It made me feel a little less cranky about my miserable drive to school this morning, reading about some of their trips to school :)

    December 4, 2013

  • Paige K.

well, I bought it and read the prologue, but that is as far as I got. Still want to get together because I have so much fun with you all, perhaps next year, we should pick a magazine!!! HA!

I am reading reading reading, but I think with my mom visiting she would rather spend the time with her grandkids...so we are out. Nita, sorry for backing out, but please bring the chairs to the holiday party. I plan to be there and can bring them home then. Thanks

Michelle, sorry to hear you won't be able to make it! Most likely I will not be able to attend the holiday party, but I will see if anyone who will be at both events is willing to take the chairs. If not, I will message you later and we can figure out a way to get them back to you. Hope you have a wonderful time with your mom!
