If you enjoy reading and a glass (or more) of wine, this group's for you! We'll choose a book each month to read, discuss, and pair with a good wine for the discussion. Good books, good wine, good company - what more could you ask for? We meet once a month on a Sunday afternoon, in and around the Bucks/Mont/Lehigh Valley area. Book selections are based on polls which normally occur 3 - 4 times throughout the year. At times, polls will take place at a meetup, so plan to attend to have your voice heard.) We also host a "Classics" series. We meet every other month, usually on the 4th (or last) Friday (evening) of the month, to discuss a classic. The books are selected and the meetups posted with plenty of notice, so that you can plan accordingly. If your recommendation is selected ) either for a Sunday, or a Friday-Classic), we prefer(but do not require) that you host the meeting. Hosting duties include: select the venue, make the reservation, confirm the reservation one day prior to the Meetup, and facilitate the discussion. (This is not difficult nor time-consuming; I promise!)
Meetings are generally held at a BYOB restaurant, although the host has the option of holding the meeting in his/her own home or making reservations at his/her favorite restaurant. Members provide their own wine for each meeting, when held at a BYOB or private residence. Plan to share your wine, as it's always fun to try new wines, or enjoy an old favorite. If you don't want to drink wine, you are not obligated to bring any. NOTE: Attendees who choose not to order food at the restaurant are expected to contribute $10.00 toward the bill, as the restaurant is still providing the use of their restaurant for an average of 3 hours, and they help with the wines. This group has a 'three strikes and you're out' rule regarding no shows. If you RSVP 'Yes,' and don't show up - that is a 'no show.' As a courtesy to the host and to the restaurant, we want you to confirm your RSVP at least 24 hours prior to a meeting. Attendees must pay $2.00 at each book discussion. Funds are used to cover the cost of Meetup charges. You are welcome to bring a guest. The $2.00 attendance fee applies to guests, as well. Hope to see you at our next book discussion!
