Anna Karenina: discussion of 2nd half

Called by William Faulkner the best novel ever written.
We will be discussing the rest of the book.

Kindle: Anna Karenina (Maude Translation) (Carefully Crafted Classics®)  $2.99
much better than the free version.

I have this hardcover:

Anna Karenina (Everyman's Library) by Leo Tolstoy (1992)

Scott, you asked if there was a possible different way rather than Anna jumping in front of the train. What if she was so distressed about not seeing her son and the lack of an agreeable divorce that she returned to Karenin? She would have continued to live within a loveless relationship and struggled to regain her place in society. Vronsky would have been heartbroken and his story would continue just as it is in the book.

fyi: this comment came from an online summary:
a railway worker accidentally falls in front of a train and is killed. Anna interprets this as an "evil omen."

This is interesting and may explain the length of the book: Anna Karenina ... published in serial installments from 1873 to 1877 in the periodical The Russian Messenger. Tolstoy clashed with editor Mikhail Katkov over political issues that arose in the final installment (Tolstoy's unpopular views of volunteers going to Serbia); therefore, the novel's first complete appearance was in book form in 1878.

Good discussion. Happy reading! Thanks, Scott.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
