Monthly Meetup: The Last Letter from Your Lover by JoJo Moyes

It is 1960. When Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital, she can remember nothing-not the tragic car accident that put her there, not her husband, not even who she is. She feels like a stranger in her own life until she stumbles upon an impassioned letter, signed simply "B", asking her to leave her husband.

Years later, in 2003, a journalist named Ellie discovers the same enigmatic letter in a forgotten file in her newspaper's archives. She becomes obsessed by the story and hopeful that it can resurrect her faltering career. Perhaps if these lovers had a happy ending she will find one to her own complicated love life, too. Ellie's search will rewrite history and help her see the truth about her own modern romance.

I have moved everyone on the Waiting List from this meetup to the secondary meetup hosted by Loran. I have closed RSVPs for this meetup as well as the waiting list so if you cannot make this meetup please let me know as soon as possible.

I'm planning on having this book club at my house IF I can get it done in time!

If it is at your house any chance that more people will be able to attend?

      February 14, 2013

    • Melissa

Probably not. I'm most comfortable with that number and since my house is small I think it would be better to keep it the same.

I am not coming, but wanted to get into the conversation. I did put this book on reserve with the Sac County library, so hope to hear what everybody thinks. Hope to make the next meeting.

Don't let the title and the synopsis fool you- this is not just a schmaltzy romance- it's a pretty good mystery that should spark an interesting discussion about relationships. (Believe me- I had reservations when another book club I was in picked it).

Even tho the book hasn't been chosen, I'd like to sign up!

We select the book at the meeting before. I won't post the book until we discuss the options at the February meetup.

Just relocated from Portland, signed up for Feb mtg, and had to cancel. Half way through the book too! Looking forward to the next meeting, and I would be glad to host in the future. I live in Serrano in EDH. Do you have a book yet for March?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
