2nd Monthly Meetup: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

  • Mar 27, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Hello all. Something different this time, picked by Melissa Epperly. The story sounds very good to me. As always, I hate to look at reviews or long descriptions to get the gist of the book, so I found this quick overview that should help you decide if your into this sort of novel or not.

"In The Fault in Our Stars, John Green has created a soulful novel that tackles big subjects--life, death, love--with the perfect blend of levity and heart-swelling emotion. Hazel is sixteen, with terminal cancer, when she meets Augustus at her kids-with-cancer support group. The two are kindred spirits, sharing an irreverent sense of humor and immense charm, and watching them fall in love even as they face universal questions of the human condition--How will I be remembered? Does my life, and will my death, have meaning?--has a raw honesty that is deeply moving."

No zombies, vampires or plagues. :-

When will the location be posted? Are suggestions welcome? I was at the Fat Rabbit for the 1st monthly meetup & that worked out well (plus, they have a to-die-for dessert there that I wouldn't mind indulging in again). I was unsure about this book selection b/c it seemed like sensitive/sad material, but am so glad I dove into it & signed up. I look forward to this meetup!

I don't suppose you would consider doing it on the 21st instead of the 27th? I really enjoyed my first meeting with you guys last month but I won't be able to make it on the 27th.
