Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell

This has been a much talked about novel for a few years. With a movie coming out, now might be the time to read this highly awarded book before it gets spoiled by the movie. Here is a basic over-view from Amazon:

"A postmodern visionary who is also a master of styles of genres, David Mitchell combines flat-out adventure, a Nabokovian lore of puzzles, a keen eye for character, and a taste for mind-bending philosophical and scientific speculation in the tradition of Umberto Eco and Philip K. Dick. The result is brilliantly original fiction that reveals how disparate people connect, how their fates intertwine, and how their souls drift across time like clouds across the sky."

There are MANY very wordy 'brief' reviews on this novel. The gist is that it is an interesting read. So let us read and judge this book for ourselves!

Not my favorite. Was difficult to get through and seemed like it was trying to hard. I did enjoy some of the characters (Frobisher and Cavendish) but the rest.....meh....

Great meeting. Maybe not the most exciting book, but at least there was plenty to talk about it. Maybe that was the point of the book... See you all next time!

Still can't get into the book. My first meeting with the group, how will I find you? At least I can listen to you talk about the book while I have a margarita :)

I'm still in the second story, but I'm finding it interesting. It's odd, but for me, enjoyable.
