"Play It As It Lays" is "a ruthless dissection of American life in the late 1960s." Joan Didion is also a wickedly awesome writer, and the book was named in the 100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005 (from TIME). Remember, if you don't finish the book, you WILL be punished. We will be meeting up at my house again which have large couches and assorted seating. It's BYOB and please call me if you have any questions about directions! My number is[masked]-1732.

Blahhh not going to get out of work in time after all. I'm so sorry for the late notice. I really wanted to talk about this book, too! Also-- happy birthday, Jessica! Hope you guys have an awesome time tonight, and I look forward to meeting you all next month!

Sorry for the super late response, I had no idea if I would make it until today because of some super intense/exhausting travelling--but I'll be there!

Had a major work deadline come up and I won't be able to make it. I'm really looking forward to next month, though!

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone tonight! Joan Didion is one of my all-time favorite authors so I can't wait to talk about her with all you women. Thematically, I thought about bringing vodka or chardonnay, but I think I'll stick to good old beer as my BYOB. And I'll bring a chair :)

This is my real birthday day-yay! I'm hoping to go out after, maybe just for a drink or dancing in East Nashville (Five Spot?). Nothing too wild, but I know I usually bum it to events, but tomorrow I'll wear real clothes. Hope all of you lovely ladies will join me to celebrate being 26 in Nashville! My number's[masked] if you want to make plans.

Hello! Since this will be the last event at my current house before I move, we are short by one couch which has been sold. If you want to bring a lawn chair....your butt will thank you!

I hate to cancel, but I was just notified that I have to go to Johnston City all next week for work. If something gets cancelled at the last minute, though, I will change my RSVP back to YES! Have fun ladies, and I hope to join for an upcoming event soon.

I went to Parnassus and ordered it and they had it less than 48 hours later for me. Just FYI if anyone else is looking for it.

I've gone to every bookstore and this book is nowhere to be found! Any possibility that I could borrow this from someone?

I actually have this one in my library. If I get on it this time, I could possibly loan this to someone in a couple of weeks.

Uf da .. No free downloads for this one. My scan found virus threats on all available downloads. EXCEPT, there are open source copies available at https://openlibrary.org/search?q=%22play+it+as+it+lays%22+didion - but there are waiting lists on all of them. Join the waiting list, though, if you're interested in reading it digitally.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
